Held in Camp Washington-Carver, a five day mountaintop gathering of musicians and friends with contests, concerts, workshops, square dances, camping and a hymn-sing. West Virginia masters are presented to an audience of more than 3000 musicians and string band music lovers from around the world.
Over the history of this festival, more than 20 foreign countries and 40 of the 50 states have been represented, with many returning year after year to this much-loved festival.
The Appalachian String Band Festival is looking for traditional bands to play for the square dances. Bands must have a fiddler that has played for old-time square dances; a bass player is a requirement as well. Bands will receive free camping or admission to the festival, and be eligible to compete in the contests.

Warren Wilson College is a small, picturesque mountaintop college east of Asheville, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Close to I-40. On-campus lodging and meals (outstanding dining hall fare) available. Close to Asheville and mountain vacation attractions. Campgrounds in vicinity.
Swannanoa Dulcimer Week has two tracks - Hammered Dulcimer and Mountain Dulcimer. Classes are limited to 15 students. First two periods are with main teacher, then a separate aftenoon course choice is available with another instructor. Concerts, Open Mike, Dances, Dances, Dances, Lotsa Jamming. Special Opportunity: Participans in Dulcimer Week may at no extra cost attend classes/activities in our "sister" week, Sing, Swing & String Week, featuring classes in singing, dancing and other instruments. We are exposed to new music styles we rarely get to hear at other dulcimer events.

Little Rock Dulcimer Getaway, a two day event to be held at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock Arkansas. Both Hammer Dulcimer and Mountain Dulcimer will be represented. Workshops for all skill levels will be held. The headliners will present a mid-day concert and there will an Open Stage/Jam Session after the last workshop lasting until as long as it takes.
Directions are as follows:
Coming from South, East, or West on I-30, I-40, or I-530; take I-630 and exit on Pine street going North. At the intersection of Pine and Lee turn left one half block and then right on Cedar Street. Pulaski Heights Baptist Church is on the corner of Cedar Street and Kavanaugh Blvd. Stay on Cedar and park behind the church.
Coming from the North on I-40 take I-430 South and exit on Cantrell Rd. after crossing the Arkansas River. Going east on Cantrell turn right on Kavanaugh Blvd. and follow to Pulaski Heights Baptist at the intersection of Kavanaugh and Cedar. Turn left on Cedar and park behind the church.
Entering Little Rock on US 67/167 take I-40 West to I-30 South, from I-30 South take I-630. From I-630 exit on Pine street and follow directions above.

A series of events that starts in May and will finish up in August. What a fun way to spend a warm balmy summer evening - great music, shopping and good friends.
There will be live music, lots of great vendors and FREE
music lessons on cool instruments like mountain dulcimers, hammered dulcimers, banjos, spoons, etc. This event is
meant for the whole family and entrance is FREE!

Sponsored by the Folk Music Society of Midland. The location is the Midland County Fairgrounds, 6905 Eastman Road, Midland, MI.
Camping reservations are NOT needed. The sites are plentiful and shady. All have access to electricity.
The workshop program from the 2003 festival is available in pdf format on the web site so you can see what was offered. This year there are plans to have even more workshops.
An instructed traditional country dance held Friday evening.
Lots of open mic periods. Saturday evening main stage show. Free vendoring of music related items is allowed at campsites (no additional fee).
